A little Practice with colour correction

Sunset plus sillouette shot gave me a really hard time. Every little adjustment seems too much and thus i lowered the offset. Mid tone this time was orange while highlight was a slight red.


For the ramp, i played with saturation to bring the colour of the grass out as my phone has low capability in low lighting. The cement this time was set a greyish blue and reddish yellow. gain was also brought up to balance the light.


The photo of the alley was taken next to sub station. I tweek with the colour curves to bring it to an interesting contrast. Walls were initially light orange and after some colour balance i set its mid tones to slightly blue while highilights yellow to give it this dreamy feeling.

I am just going to show the videos and not critique. This one tho nice but idk why got headache at some.





And a slalom video. oh he is goood. Dislike his slowmo tho. but editing is one of the better ones i seen in skating side.

Studies on film and light and colour.

So as i am not as experienced as many editors out there. i decided to look into other people's work. see why are their videos so supported and what makes them hook peopel to watch their video. so first up...

Storm Freerun



Critique: Good song choice, intro connects beautifully. Creative use of animation. to song nicely. I am paying a lot in slowmo as i am planning on using them for my film. and the first slowmo at intro was great. i loved it a lot. however second one just felt off. partially coz his main purpose was to fit to the music his take off and landing of the flip. cut was quick and fast. rarely clips beyong 5 seconds to hook the new generations or watchers who have shorter attention span.amazing character introduction. however i cannot refer too much to this one as it has a totally different mood compared to the video i am picturing in my mind.

oh the freerunning and parkour is great btw. just payign more attention to filming. dont get me wrong im a great fan of this sport.


Danny MacAskill - "Way Back Home"



as usual smoothing music and cutting to music. there are some part which are intentionally lagged cutting to music which somehow made the feelign of watching the film better. however i dont know how it is done. its colour felt more warm and documentry as well. occational dolly and playing with audio makes the video a lot more exciting most of the times. he establish the location and the van arriving before showcasing his skill at that loaction. inspirational video.

Finally since the video i am doing is going to be somewhat like a mv style. i study the best of editing. the koreans. and this song is nice!

Park Jung Min - Not Alone


as usual koreans have amazing camera works. editing as well. they make colours look so natural yet you know its warm. how they did that? well like what i am tryign to do, there is nto much of a story but just a focus of showcase. oh and to add on, if i can chagne myself i will be this guy, he got the looks im seeking, style and voice. woo.

New video idea!

So i have decided to be a little more creative and NOT use the 4 horse men. however i am not very good in this deep thinking stuff. and also song is pretty long so i need to add more people so i have better and easier shots.

Instead this video will be based more on the 7 deadly sins. After a little research i figure my characters will wear somethign based on the given colours. Still sourcing for actors.

First big video project notes and reserach.(part 2)

Not much progression in the video ideas however i came up with the crew in mind. I was planning on using Jason's 60D to do the filming. And if I am not wrond Saiful has another camera which will be useful in terms of shooting same shot in another angle.

No audio are going to be recorded. However crew have to aid in location sourcing(recking). Script is basically out already however will have to discuss with crew more to do more shot planning.

Leonard
well its my project so, no need for explaination. And I want to practice more on editin as well.

Saiful
I casted in one of his project before and i realised he has a good potential as a director in terms of not to waste the time of the group which would help in productivity. Also i have seen him played wiht lightings and i admit this is a tough job. Tho i heard there are many light in shot, i will make sure it will not happen wiht me around. However he has a very creative lighting techinique to help me.

Zul
I have seen Zul handle the camera during camera and lighting module and even our lecturer praised him for his excellent technique on the camera exposure as well as movement. However he is also here to give Saiful a helping hand on lighting. Zul has a keen interest in editing and thus will be here to help me in some editing as well.

Jason
Even though video is not his forte and he is not really interested in video the first time i met him, i know he is willing to learn more as this is his course after all. So working wiht Zul will allow him to gain more experience on camera handling.


Crew are working closely in order to come up with an excellent video.

First big video project notes and reserach.

I am planning for a huge video project to see if i am ready to handle a bigger production. by myself. So with my sources i gathered a crew and some people to be actors.

after sourcing i found this to be the closest to what i am able to do. its about 4 bicycle man cycling and some grim reaper.

However after extensive research and a friend who reads into geomythalogy, i came to find out that this is about the 4 hoursemen of the Apocalypse.

So I am thinking of getting 4 actors. So far in mind is ZhiPing from NPinline, Gordon, Kaye and Song (other 3 from TPSkate). Shall update again!
